Rain, rain go away, don't come again another day...
April arrived and we started our spring cleaning of our cabins. A task which should be pretty simple, however up here in Northern Maine we still have snow!! We started with the cabins that we could access even with the snow on the ground - which weren't very many...
Now we are being "blessed" by the water Gods, it has been continuously raining for about 3 days now. Now most of our snow has melted away and we have access to all of our cabins. The task we are now faced with is to spring clean while avoiding the puddles and mud.
If you have never been to Northern Maine you should know that mud season is our of our most favorite but also our least favorite season of the year. It's fun if you have a big truck that doesn't get stuck, it's fun if you like to ride your ATV and get a little dirty, and it's fun if you a small child making mud pies. It is not fun however if you own a small car and can't get up your driveway, it is not fun if you have to go in and out of a building - leading to either removal of shoes constantly or tracking in mud constantly, it is definitely not fun if you are an adult cleaning up the tracked in mud or cleaning the mud pie making little ones.
So let us all say a small silent prayer that we get some sunshine here, at least until we are done cleaning.
When two generations come together to do the same job there are many things that could go wrong, but just as easily there are many beautiful things that can take place.
Here at Maynard's we have reached that point in our journey. We now have members of the 5th generation playing big roles for us. Helping us to join the big scary world of the internet. Things like Facebook, Instagram and running our own website. It has been a time consuming task teaching those who don't know how to do these things, and it has now come down to just letting the ones who know how to work things just do it on their own.
We have had the chance to teach our new generation how to do all the tasks that help to keep an office working smoothly. Helping them develop skills that are important to having any job in the management field.
With both generations learning from each other we are growing stronger bonds that seem to be fading in today's world. It is a blessing to be able to work with, teach, and spend time with family in ways that we never thought we would.
"Families are like branches on a tree, we grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one"

noun | may-nards me-nag-er-ie
: a place where fun loving, never boring employees work and are trained to give guest the best stay and meals as possible
With a staff of twenty people (give or take) Maynard's is a very fun place to work. We are all one big family and or one goal is to make sure we take care of your family as if you were one of ours.
