Rain, rain go away, don't come again another day... April arrived and we started our spring cleaning of our cabins. A task which should be pretty simple, however up here in Northern Maine Mother Nature is a little bipolar!! When we started cleaning cabins we could see grass, VERY wet grass but still grass. Then one morning we woke up to a fresh coat of snow on the ground. This delayed cleaning just a little, we focused on our main building during this time.
Now it seems that Mother Nature just wants to tease us, giving us a few days of glorious sunshine and warmth all to give us more rain and coldness. So now we continue to clean the last remaining cabins while constantly shedding or adding layers of clothing and removing our shoes due to the muddy mess. Our lower lake has completely thawed out but our upper lake is still a little frozen, this is sad for our fishermen because it means our river is freezing and the fish aren't biting. Still though we have guests in our cabins and they are making the best of the flip flopping weather. We have a few new faces here in the Maynard's staff, it's exciting to be welcoming new people into our little family. As always we have many of the same family staff here and we are all getting very excited about this year, it's a big deal for us. This year we turn 100 years old, it's a huge birthday year for us!! We open our dinning room to the public this weekend on Sunday, May 12th, Mother's Day, and we are completely booked! This year is going to be huge for us and we can't wait to see all your smiling faces join us!
